5 Things to Make the Holidays More Enjoyable

TIPS

Because peace > panic

The holiday season should feel magical, but let’s be real. If you’re anything like me, it usually ends up looking like late-night online orders, a fridge full of half-baked plans, and a camera roll of “maybe next year” moments.

But what if we shifted the story this year?

Here are 5 things you can check off now (yes, even in August!) to create a slower, more meaningful holiday season so you can be present, not panicked, when December rolls around.

1. Book Your Wisconsin Holiday Mini Session Early

This is a big one. Every year, I see it: sweet families who wait until November to book their holiday photos only to find slim pickings for dates and too many other things piling up.

By booking your Holiday Mini Session early (like, Christmas in July early), you get:

  • The best pick of session times
  • More time to choose outfits you love
  • Enough breathing room to design your cards without rush shipping
  • A moment to actually enjoy the tree farm instead of just checking a box

I’ll be photographing families again at the beautiful Franklin Christmas Tree Farm in Southeast Wisconsin, and these Christmas Tree Farm Photos are something truly special. Cozy, classic, and full of heirloom-worthy charm.

2. Order Holiday Cards Before the Rush

Imagine this: it’s mid-November, and you already have your favorite photo framed, your cards designed, and your envelopes sealed.

That’s the magic of planning ahead. Most card companies release their holiday designs by early fall. Pair that with your early Christmas Mini Session, and you’ll be the one skipping the shipping delays and holiday lines.

(Order a few extra cards this year. You always forget someone, and it feels so good to send one more out without stress.)

3. Outfit Planning = One Less Decision in December

The beauty of early booking? You don’t have to style your family in a rush.
Whether you love neutrals, soft textures, or classic plaid for your Christmas Tree Farm Photos, planning ahead gives you time to coordinate outfits that feel like you.

4. Start a Holiday Gift List

This one sounds small, but I promise it’s a lifesaver. Open a note in your phone or planner and start a running list of who you’re buying for and what you’re gifting them. Even if you don’t purchase anything yet, just knowing what to look for can turn chaotic December errands into peaceful little wins.

5. Carve Out Time to Actually Be Present

The holidays come with enough to-dos. But what if we treated the being together part as the real priority? By knocking out things like your Christmas Mini Session and holiday cards now, you’re not just “being productive.” You’re making space to slow down.

You’re giving your December self the gift of time. The chance to sip cocoa by the fire without a hundred other things calling your name. The ability to say yes to traditions, like baking cookies or driving around to see lights, because your have-to’s are already done.

Ready to make that first move?

My Holiday Mini Sessions at the Christmas Tree Farm will open for booking very soon. Be the first to hear all the details and grab your preferred date by requesting to join the early access list.

Let’s make this the year you feel calm and collected as the holidays roll in. Not just for your family’s sake, but for yours too.
